Building Better Programs

Rethinking Job Search and Placement for TANF Recipients with Significant Personal and Family Challenges – Application of the Individual Placement and Support Supported Employment Model

Ramsey County, Minnesota, developed a pilot program to increase employment among TANF recipients with work limitations and disabilities. It gathered into the same location mental health services, health care services, and employment services following the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model. The results offer promise that IPS, which has been shown to be effective among individuals with severe mental illness, might be adapted effectively for TANF recipients with disabilities. In this webinar, Boyd Brown and Thomas Jaeger from Goodwill Easter Seals Minnesota will talk about how they used the IPS model in their work with TANF recipients and how it differs from the job search programs usually operated by TANF agencies.
